Low Poker Hand - This is the lowest hand you can have. When you have no pairs, no trips, just a whole bunch of nothing! Your highest card, your kicker, is your "hand" and you hope it "out kicks" your opponent. As shown in the image to the right, the Ace is the high card, the kicker.
Pair - When you have of the same card. As shown in the image to the right, two aces makes your pair.
Two Pair - When your hand is made up of one pair of one rank and a second pair of another rank. As shown in the image to the right, two aces, and two kings.
Three of a Kind - When you have three cards of the same rank, also referred to as "trips". As shown in the image to the right, three aces.
Straight - When you have five consecutive cards. As shown in the image to the right, 10JQKA.
Flush - When you have five cards of the same suit. As shown in the image to the right, five diamonds
Full House - When you have three cards of one rank and two cards of another. As shown in the image to the right, three aces and two kings.
Four of a Kind - when you have four cards of the same rank, also referred to as "quads". As shown in the image to the right, four aces.
Straight Flush - When you have five consecutive cards of the same suit. As shown in the image to the right, 34567 of spades.
Royal Flush - This is the highest possible hand, when you have a straight from 10 to the Ace of the same suit. Also called a Royal Straight Flush, or just a Royal. As shown in the image to the right, 10JQKA of spades.
